Abstract

This editorial introduces the issue devoted to emerging technology ecosystems, which brings together five contributions from universities in Peru and Venezuela. Its starting point is that the value of technology no longer depends on the novelty of its tools, but on the ability to integrate them, verify them, and place them at the service of people. From this premise, it reviews the works in the issue, which address cybersecurity aimed at fraud prevention in administrative services, the gradual adoption of information technologies in the financial management of small and medium-sized enterprises, the epistemological foundations of decision-making in industrial automation, the ethical-technological governance of generative artificial intelligence, and digital identity technologies for secure authentication in decentralized ecosystems. Read together, these contributions trace a path that runs from the infrastructure of organizations to the identity of each citizen, and they share a common conviction, namely that trust in technological systems must be built through coherent architectures, deliberate human oversight, and verifiable evidence. The editorial concludes by inviting the Latin American academic community to move from the design of proposals to their validation in real-world settings, through implementation studies, sustained evaluations, and cross-country collaborations.
