Editorial policies

Commitment to Scientific Integrity

CISAI is committed to upholding the highest standards of scientific integrity, transparency, and rigor in all its editorial processes. Below is a set of policies designed to ensure the quality and credibility of published research, fostering a trust-based environment among authors, reviewers, readers, and editors.

Open Access Policy

CISAI follows an open access model, in which all published articles are freely available for reading, downloading, distribution, and reproduction for non-commercial purposes, provided that proper credit is given to the authors and the source. Modification or the creation of derivative works is not permitted, in accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license.

Creative Commons License

All articles published by CISAI are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), which permits use and distribution with proper attribution, provided the license terms are respected.

In CISAI, authors retain full copyright over their published works. This includes ownership of any trademark, patent, or other intellectual property rights related to processes, methods, or procedures described in the article.

All articles published in CISAI are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This license permits others to read, download, copy, distribute, and reproduce the work for non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the authors and the original publication, and that the work is not modified.

Authors retain the right to reuse, reproduce, and distribute their own articles, in whole or in part, in other works such as compilations, conference proceedings, theses, or books, provided that clear acknowledgment of the original publication in CISAI is included.

Digital Preservation Policy

CISAI uses the OJS (Open Journal Systems) editorial management platform, a widely recognized open-source system internationally, ensuring organization, visibility, and sustainability of scientific content. For long-term digital preservation, systems such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) are implemented, enabling distributed and secure replication of all published articles, protecting them against accidental loss or technological failure. Additionally, automatic and periodic backups of the database and document repository are performed, ensuring the integrity and continuous availability of academic material, even in the event of technical contingencies or computer disasters.

Institutional Preservation:

All CISAI files are stored and backed up on the journal’s institutional infrastructure, ensuring their long-term security and availability. Monthly backups are performed to prevent data loss and to maintain the integrity of the content.

Self-Archiving Policy

The journal allows authors to electronically share the accepted version of their manuscript, i.e., the peer-reviewed and approved text prior to the journal’s layout and typesetting process. This version may be deposited in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, or personal websites, provided that it is clearly indicated that the article has been accepted for publication in the journal, including the volume and issue in which it will appear. Once the article is officially published, the author may replace the accepted version with the final published version in PDF format, available on the journal’s website.

The journal does not impose any embargo periods. Therefore, authors have full freedom to publicly share the article in PDF format through any medium immediately after its publication.

Plagiarism Policy

CISAI applies a strict plagiarism control process. Turnitin or iThenticate is used. The limits are:

  • Similarity: Maximum 10%.
  • AI-assisted: Maximum 20% (according to Turnitin).

Manuscripts exceeding these values will be immediately rejected.

Authorship Policy

In accordance with scientific publication ethics guidelines and the standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), CISAI sets a clear and strict authorship policy aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and proper attribution of intellectual responsibilities in published articles.

Number of authors:
A maximum of five (5) authors per manuscript is allowed. This limit aims to prevent honorary or unwarranted authorship. Exceptions may be made when the interdisciplinary nature or complexity of the study justifies it, provided each role is clearly detailed.

Authorship criteria:
Only those who have made substantial and verifiable contributions to at least one of the following stages of the research process will be recognized as authors:

  • Conceptualization and study design.
  • Data collection, analysis, or interpretation.
  • Substantial drafting or critical revision with significant intellectual input.
  • Final approval of the version submitted for publication.

Alternative recognition:
Individuals who have contributed in support roles (e.g., technical assistance, data collection, translation, editing, or funding) but do not meet authorship criteria must be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section, with prior written consent.

Mandatory use of CRediT taxonomy:
All articles must include a detailed author contribution statement following the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), which identifies 14 possible roles in the research process. For example:

The conceptualization of the study was carried out by XXX; the methodological design and formal data analysis by XXX; data collection and curation by XXX. The original draft writing was done by XXX, who also developed the results visualization. The critical review and editing were performed by XXX. Overall supervision and project administration were handled by XXX, who also managed the necessary funding for the study. All authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript and take responsibility for its content.

Correction and Retraction Policy

  • Corrections: Request via editor@cisai.com.pe.
  • Retractions: Applied in cases of errors, misconduct, plagiarism, duplication, or unethical research.

Retracted articles will be marked as such and remain accessible. Total removal occurs only by legal order or in cases of serious risk.

  • Misconduct: Complaints are investigated according to COPE. Reports to: cisai@cisai.com.pe.
  • Appeals: Complaints are received at: editor@cisai.com.pe, following COPE guidelines.

Funding and Conflict of Interest Statement

Authors must declare all sources of funding and potential conflicts of interest. The editorial team will assess their potential influence on the impartiality of the work.

Human and Animal Research Ethics

Studies must have ethical approval and comply with standards such as the Declaration of Helsinki. Informed consent and institutional approval must be included.

Research Data Deposit

CISAI actively promotes the deposit of datasets in open, institutional, or thematic repositories as an essential measure to ensure transparency, scientific reproducibility, and free access to knowledge. This practice aligns with open science principles established by organizations such as UNESCO, the OECD, and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors must, when applicable, make primary data, codes, instruments, or other relevant materials available to support study results. This information must be included in a specific section of the article titled “Data Availability”, clearly indicating the repository name, persistent identifier (DOI or URL), and access conditions.

The journal reserves the right to request access to original data at any stage of the editorial process, especially when necessary to verify the quality, accuracy, or consistency of results. For research involving sensitive data (e.g., health, education, justice), anonymity must be ensured, and applicable ethical and legal regulations followed.

In accordance with Peruvian law, all articles published in CISAI form part of the national scientific archive and are registered under the Legal Deposit at the National Library of Peru, associated with the ISSN: 3084-7907 (Online).

Policy on the Use of LLM (Language Models)

In line with principles of scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and responsible authorship, CISAI sets specific guidelines regarding the use of Large Language Models (LLM) such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Llama, among others.

The use of LLM-based tools must be explicitly declared in the manuscript, both in the “Methodology” section (if used as part of the experimental design) and in the final “Authorship Contributions” section, when used for drafting assistance, language editing, translation, or generating preliminary ideas.

The use of these tools must not replace the analysis, judgment, or interpretation of the researchers, nor will they be accepted as substitutes for intellectual authorship. LLMs must not be considered co-authors under any circumstances, in line with COPE, ICMJE, and high-impact journals such as Nature or Science. CISAI sets a maximum threshold of 20% AI-assisted content, evaluated through tools like Turnitin. Manuscripts exceeding this percentage may be rejected or returned for correction. They must not be used to generate results, interpret findings, or support scientific claims without verifiable human validation and supervision.

All authors must take full responsibility for the content of the manuscript, including any material generated or assisted by AI, and must declare in the originality form that no unethical automated manipulation has occurred.

Advertising and Events Policy

CISAI maintains editorial independence from sponsors. All advertising will be clearly identified and will not influence scientific or editorial decisions.
